Cases take a long time to get processed in Los Angeles County, and that wait is about to get longer. A lot longer. The County is “repurposing” its courthouses in an effort to absorb more budget cuts with the implied goal of minimal disruptions to its functioning. One of the functions impacted by the cuts is the probate department. 2013 will see the closure of the district branch probate departments. Now, Departments 5, 9, and 11 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse will handle all (yes: all) probate matters filed in the County.
